Jelka Petrak, Ph.D. Professor, Head of the Central Medical Library in Zagreb The guest of this issue is a distinguished librarian Jelka Petrak, Ph.D. Professor, Head of the Central Medical Library in Zagreb, and this year’s winner of the prestigious National and University Library in Zagreb Award. Jelka Petrak, Ph.D. Professor, is the author of a great number of scientific and research papers which have received international recognition and several scientific projects in the field of biomedicine and librarianship. Through her scientific and research activity and outstanding efforts she made a major contribution to the overall development of information and library sciences and professions, especially in Croatian medical librarianship. Apart from being Head of the Central Medical Library in Zagreb, Jelka Petrak teaches at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate doctoral studies at the School of Medicine, University of Zagreb. In the interview she tells her story of how she was drawn to medical librarianship and about the challenges and role of the Central Medical Library in the future.
