Zadar City Library receives Library of the Year Award
On 21 September 2012 the Croatian Library Association’s management board unanimously accepted the proposal by the Library of the Year Award Committee and proclaimed the Zadar City Library as the Library of the Year 2012.
This award is given to libraries whose staff make significant contributions to the library profession, library users and the entire community.
The reasons for the decision are as follows:
The work of the Zadar City Library is characterized by a high quality of its activities which has placed it among the most significant public libraries in the Republic of Croatia. Its services and programmes are entirely oriented towards the community in which it operates, being innovative and directed at both the current and future needs of the library community. Through its varied learning programmes tailored to different social requirements and needs, its educational and cultural projects, and persistence in maintaining the high level of all its activities, of public visibility, participation and inclusion in the life of its environment – both spatial and social – the Zadar City Library has set a great example as a library rooted in its community and as such, according to the unanimous opinion of the Award Committee, it serves as a model for future winners of the Library of the Year Award.
