On 14 November 2022, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) organised Resources on well-being and self-help in electronic academic databases, a workshop held as part of Citizen-Enhanced Open Science in Southeastern Europe Higher Education Knowledge Hubs (CeOS_SE Project), an Erasmus+ research project aimed at including European citizens in pan-European efforts focusing on open science. Hosted by the Department of Information and Communication Sciences of the Zagreb Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the programme was also organised as part of this year’s Croatian Book Month.

The workshop was incorporated into the Department’s Digital Library 2 course, led by Assistant Professor Tomislav Ivanjko, and joined by Research and Senior Teaching Assistant at the Department of Cultural Studies of the Rijeka Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Iva Žurić Jakovina. Žurić Jakovina first presented the workshop’s 23 participants, the students at the Librarianship Section of the Zagreb Faculty’s Department of Information and Communications Sciences, with the basic concepts of self-help and the role of self-help literature as a valuable self-help tool, after which the students crowdsourced academic resources on this topic by searching HRČAK, the Portal of Croatian scientific and professional journals, for academic papers on self-help and singling out selected papers for the purpose of further academic analysis.

The National and University Library in Zagreb is one of seven institutions taking part in the CeOS_SE project and this latest programme aimed to address both issues at the centre of UN Agenda 2030, especially its Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages), and ideas promoted as part of the European Year of Youth 2022 initiative.
