Promotion of the National E-Theses Repository
The National and University Library in Zagreb will host the presentation of the National E-Theses Repository (Nacionalni repozitorij završnih i diplomskih radova, ZIR) for the wider public on Thursday, 5 November 2015 (side lobby, 13.00).
The recently launched repository will be presented by Tatijana Petrić, Director General of the National and University Library in Zagreb, Ružica Beljo Lučić, Assistant Minister of Science, Education and Sports, Damir Boras, Rector of the University of Zagreb, Zvonko Kusić, President of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts and Zoran Bekić, Director of the Croatian University Computing Centre (Sveučilišni računski centar, SRCE).
The National E-Theses Repository has been set up at the National and University Library in Zagreb as a central archive of and point of access to the digital versions of all theses and dissertations defended at the Croatian higher education institutions.
The repository has been established as part of the DABAR system through the Library’s cooperation with the Croatian University Computing Centre (Sveučilišni računski centar, SRCE) and libraries at the Croatian universities and other institutions of higher education. The launching of DABAR marked the beginning of a systematic and regular storing of theses in digital form. All theses that become included in the repositories of individual academic institutions automatically become part of central university repositories as well as of the national repository of electronic theses and dissertations, the National E-Theses Repository, where the first 200 theses have recently been included.
This initiative created the conditions necessary for the implementation of the Croatian higher education law, which requires that all theses and dissertations defended at Croatian higher education institutions be made permanently available on appropriate web locations, including the Croatian National and University Library’s online database of final theses and dissertations, i.e. ZIR.
