With its 46 seats, the Library’s Periodicals Reading Room (Floor 3) offers access to serial publications issued in the Republic of Croatia (newspapers, journals, conference proceedings and similar collective works, calendars) as well as closed stack titles published before 1900.

It also makes available microfilmed newspapers and serials which may be viewed on the microfiche readers.

The users may daily order up to 10 items (books, periodicals, newspapers), from Monday to Friday not later than 20.30 and not later than 13.30 on Saturdays. Ordering more items is possible for users that are able to justify such a need in a special request that they have to submit to the reading room staff. Requests submitted within the times stated here are processed within 45 minutes, and items requested later than the stated times are delivered the next working day.

Reservations may be made for items that users need to consult for more than a day. If reserved items are not collected by the reservation holder within three days, the items are returned to their original location and made available to other users.

The original copies of Croatian newspapers published until 1950 are not available for consultation. They are mostly available as microfilm copies and may in part also be accessed in digital format on the Library’s Historical Newspapers and Historical Journals websites.

Reprographic services are available in compliance with the legal regulations pertaining to copyright and related rights and those regulating the protection and preservation of cultural goods. Prices for photocopies, microfilm copies of microfilm images and paper prints of microfilms, and digital copies are available in NSK Priced services list.
