NSK Director General Dr Stričević attends 2023 CENL General Assembly
On 19 and 20 June 2023, the Director General of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) Dr Ivanka Stričević, accompanied by the NSK International Cooperation Officer Jagoda Ille, attended the 2023 General Assembly of the Conference of European National Libraries (CENL), hosted by the National Library of France.
Ushered in by a special programme that the hosts prepared for the Assembly’s participants on 18 June, this year’s Assembly focused on the contribution of Europe’s national libraries to all aspects of sustainable development.
After the presentation of CENL’s work, current issues and plans, the Assembly’s programme continued with a report by the Director of The Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine Lyubov Andriivna Dubrovina on the situation in Ukrainian libraries. The Assembly’s first day also included presentations in which CENL members demonstrated various examples of good practice showing how Europe’s national libraries are contributing to the attainment of sustainable development.
The programme of the Assembly’s second day included the report by the Erland Kolding Nielsen 2022 grantees, the presentations on the recently launched CENL’s National Libraries as Data Infrastructures dialogue forum and the regulation of the legal deposit system in Spain.
CENL brings together the directors of European national libraries and currently has 46 members from 45 European countries. Its purpose is to strengthen the cooperation between its member libraries and promote their activities and valuable cultural heritage preserved in their collections. The participation of NSK Director General Dr Stričević, member of the CENL Executive Committee, in this year’s CENL General Assembly represents a successful and productive continuation of the active longstanding participation of the National and University Library in Zagreb in the work of CENL.
