NATIONAL AND UNIVERSITY LIBRARY IN ZAGREB

LIS Collection

The LIS Collection is intended exclusively for librarians and functions as the constituent part of the Institute for Librarianship. The Collection systematically gathers national publications specialising in the field of librarianship, information and communication sciences as well as relevant publications in these fields in foreign languages. The Collection additionally serves as a ready reference collection for the Croatian Training Centre for Continuing Education for Librarians, providing access to scientific and professional literature necessary for the continuing education and lifelong learning of librarians. The LIS Collection organises and conducts internship programmes for LIS students in Croatia, offering these within administrative and professional services and special programmes of the National and University Library in Zagreb.

Holdings

Users have at their disposal more than 4,000 open access books and issues of over 60 Croatian and foreign journals, of which most are in English and German, published during the last five years. Older issues are kept in the Library’s closed stacks and may be requested for use in the Collection’s reading room.

The Collection’s reading room provides some thirty seats for study, one computer with internet access and a scanner.

Reference services

The Collection’s staff provides information on the resources that it holds, along with subject retrieval services in the field of librarianship, and information and communication sciences.
