“It’s Tough Being Young”: Croatian Book Month 2022 closes with its reading promotion quiz awards ceremony

On 15 November 2022, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) hosted the awards ceremony of It’s Tough Being Young, this year’s edition of the national online quiz aimed at the promotion of reading and held as part of Croatian Book Month, Croatia’s annual national programme successfully spotlighting books and reading which was this year dedicated to young people in particular and so joined the European Year of Youth 2022 initiative. The awards ceremony also marked the closing of the Month, which opened on 15 October 2022 under the slogan Do good to yourself and the world – read! and was organised by the Zagreb City Libraries public library network and under the auspices of the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media.

The ceremony included addresses by the Marketing, PR and International Cooperation Assistant at the Zagreb City Libraries Janja Maras, Senior Librarian for school libraries at the Croatian Institute for Librarianship Dr Kristina Romić, Head of the Subotica City Library Children’s Section Bernadica Ivanković and the representative of the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media Maja Zrnčić.

The Head of the Croatian Centre for Children’s Books Isabella Mauro, her colleagues at the Zagreb City Libraries Central Library’s Children’s Section Anita Spevec and Maela Rakočević Uvodić and the authors of books spotlighted by this year’s quiz Elizabeta Končić Trlek and Zoran Pongrašić announced the quiz winners, among which the winner of the first prize was Jure Miletić, from Split.
