NSK marking European Day of Conservation-Restoration
The National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) is preparing a special programme to mark the European Day of Conservation-Restoration (14 October), which is organised by the European Confederation of Conservator-Restorers’ Organisations. The programme, which will be hosted by the Library’s Preservation and Storage Department on Friday, 12 October 2018, will be open to the public from 9.00 to 13.00, with lectures and presentations on the development of the conservation-restoration profession in Croatia and the related challenges scheduled to take place from 13.00 to 14.30 in the Library’s side lobby.
The programme will be an opportunity for the wider public to get better acquainted with the activities of the department, which is approaching its 60th anniversary, and learn first-hand about its history from the conservation-restoration specialists guarding the most valuable treasures of Croatia’s written heritage. The visitors will be able to bring their own books or other paper material and learn more about how to protect and preserve them for the future.
The lectures will be delivered by Conservation-Restoration Adviser at the University of Dubrovnik Denis Vokić (A Path to Contemporary Conservation and Restoration), NSK Conservation-Restoration Adviser Dragica Krstić (Challenges to Sustainability in Conservation-Restoration Practices) and Manger and Chief Executive at the Crescat company Krešimir Jadro (Green and Environment-friendly Materials in the Protection of Cultural Heritage).
