Croatian RDA Code for Libraries, Archives and Museums presented
On 29 September 2021, the National and University Library in Zagreb hosted the presentation of recently published Croatian Resource Description and Access Code for Libraries, Archives and Museums (Pravilnik za opis i pristup građi u knjižnicama, arhivima i muzejima).
Co-published online by the National and University Library in Zagreb, Croatian State Archives and Museum Documentation Center in June 2021, the code lays down description and access standards for resources held by heritage institutions in Croatia, for the purpose of enabling Croatian libraries, archives and museums to take a coordinated approach in comprehensively presenting Croatian national heritage, especially in the digital environment, and thus use the new possibilities for searching, exchanging and linking data (such us distributed search, linked open data) to bring together in one place all data on related resources scattered across different institutions or collections.
The code was presented by the University Library Affairs Assistant to the Director General of the National and University Library in Zagreb Dr Dijana Machala, Head of Library of the Museum Documentation Center Snježana Radovanlija Mileusnić, Deputy Director of the Croatian State Archives Dr Jozo Ivanović, Director of the Directorate for Archives, Libraries and Museums of the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media Anuška Deranja Crnokić, Chairwoman of the Standing committee on the development and maintenance of the Croatian RDA Code Tanja Buzina and the committee’s former long-time Chairwoman Dr Mirna Willer.
The code was devised as a result of the 2014-2019 project supported by the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media and run through cooperation between several heritage institutions, one professional association and the representatives of three university departments/sections in the field of information and communication sciences (Izrada, objavljivanje i održavanje nacionalnog pravilnika za katalogizaciju).
