Croatian Music Institute and Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts win NSK “Heritage Online” competition
On 17 June 2022, a judging panel of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) Heritage Online 2022 competition (Baština na mreži: izradi virtualnu izložbu u NSK), supported by the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media, selected the winning entries – a submission by the Croatian Music Institute (HGK) focusing on the preservation and promotion of the legacy of notable Croatian composer Blagoje Bersa (1873-1934) and a submission by the Library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU) spotlighting the early female students of natural sciences at the University of Zagreb.
Among other criteria, the panel, consisting of the members of the NSK Croatian Digital Library Development Division Sanja Lapiš and Renata Petrušić, Assistant to the Director General of the National and University Library in Zagreb Dr Sofija Klarin Zadravec, member of the NSK Croatian National Bibliography Department Anita Marin and NSK Website and Social Media Content Manager Dragana Koljenik, selected the winning entries based on the inclusion of resources to be featured as part of the proposed online exhibitions in NSK collections and their availability with regard to copyright.
Organising its Heritage Online: Add your treasure to NSK Online Exhibitions website competition since 2018, the Library wishes to promote a wider digitisation of library collections in Croatia as well as of the holdings of the Croatian heritage, educational and research institutions in general. The website, which in 2021 celebrated its 10th anniversary, currently offers 57 exhibitions – 29 of them are publicly available, eight are currently being prepared and 20 unpublished have been created as part of the online exhibitions workshop programme, run by the Croatian Training Centre for Continuing Education of Librarians (Centar za stalno stručno usavršavanje knjižničara, CSSU).
