“Book Art in Croatia” exhibition visits Bulgaria
In cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in the Republic of Bulgaria, with support provided by the Croatian Ministry of Culture, the National and University Library in Zagreb will put on its 2018 exhibition Book Art in Croatia at The St. Cyril and Methodius National Library of the Republic of Bulgaria. The exhibition will open on 9 July 2019 and will remain on view until 31 July 2019.
The Library organised the exhibition in cooperation with the National and University Library in Ljubljana (NUK) in 2018 with the aim of providing a historical overview of techniques and styles employed in the production and decoration of books in Croatia since the Middle Ages to contemporary times, thus featuring the most rich array of manuscript and printed books, ranging from medieval evangelaries and missals to modern attractively illustrated publications and print portfolios and presenting the greatest achievements in book design in Croatia.
The exhibition will be opened by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Bulgaria Ljerka Alajbeg. Also participating in the opening programme will be Director General of the National and University Library in Zagreb Tatijana Petrić, Director of The St. Cyril and Methodius National Library of the Republic of Bulgaria Krasimira Aleksandrova and the exhibition’s author and a member of the Scientific Council at the Croatian Institute of Art History Milan Pelc.
