ARCA 2022: 20th International Innovation Exhibition on view until 20 Oct 2022

From 13 to 15 October 2022, the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) will be hosting ARCA 2022, organised by The Union of Croatian Innovators as its 20th International Innovation Exhibition. The exhibition, which is this year celebrating twenty years of promoting inventions and innovations and will feature over 200 innovations and new technologies, is the largest gathering of inventors and innovators in Croatia, and as such included in the calendar of events of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), one of the exhibition’s co-organisers.

The exhibition programme will present the latest innovations from Croatia, China, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Iran, Moldavia, North Macedonia, Poland, Qatar, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia and Turkey, developed by individuals, research teams in private sector businesses and public sector enterprises, innovations designed in academic institutions and public institutes, as well as by high-profile companies and start-ups, in almost every field of human activity, ranging from industry to daily life.

The exhibition’s opening programme included a welcome address by the Envoy of the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament and MP Dražen Srpak and subsequent addresses by the State Secretary at the Croatian Ministry of Agriculture and the Agriculture Minister’s Envoy Zdravko Tušek, Envoy of the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development and Head of the Ministry’s Sector for Innovations Diana Krčmar, Envoy of the Mayor of Zagreb and Head of the Zagreb City Technical Culture Department Madeleine Wolf, Director General of the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) Dr Ivanka Stričević, Vice-rector for Innovation, Technology Transfer and Cooperation with Economic Sector at the University of Zagreb Professor Tomislav Josip Mlinarić, Director of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) Zoran Barišić and President of The Union of Croatian Innovators Professor Miljenko Šimpraga.

The exhibition’s programme will include the open forum on digital transformation in Croatia (Digitalna transformacija Hrvatske), another devoted to perhaps the greatest inventor of all time Nikola Tesla and many other activities, such as those spotlighting the importance of professional ethics, the protection of intellectual property, STEM workshops, etc.

The exhibition will close with the awards ceremony as part of which the best innovation will be awarded ARCA Innovation Grand Prix, the exhibition’s top prize.

Apart from IFIA, the exhibition’s co-organisers are the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK), University of Zagreb, and Croatian Association of Technical Culture (CATC) and it will take place under the auspices of the Croatian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Croatian Ministry of Science and Education, Croatian Ministry of Agriculture and Croatian State Intellectual Property Office.
