Objavljeno 18.10.2021.

The National and University Library in Zagreb is organising the 13th Croatian Conference on Public Libraries, which will take place from 20 to 22 October 2021 in Umag, at the Sol Garden Istra hotel, as part of the Year of Reading 2021 national programme (Godina čitanja) and with the support of the Croatian Ministry of Culture and Media.

The co-organisers of the Conference are the Public Library Section of the Croatian Library Association, Umag City Library and the Istrian Library Association, with the National and University Library in Ljubljana (Narodna in univerzitetna knjižnica Ljubljana, NUK) and Slovenian Library Association (Zveza bibliotekarskih društev Slovenije, ZBDS) acting as partners.

The theme of this year’s Conference is Public libraries – a stronger cultural, educational and social role amid global crises (Narodne knjižnice – jačanje kulturne, obrazovne i društvene uloge u globalnim kriznim situacijama) and the aim of the conference is to encourage a closer networking of libraries under conditions brought about by various recent crises for the purpose of enabling their adjustment to the circumstances of the so-called “new normal”, and their further development in this context as well.

Apart from presentations by library professionals focusing on the conference theme, the conference programme will also address issues highlighted as part of the Year of Reading 2021 programme, run by the Ministry, include a two-night, second edition of the Conference’s Library Film Festival and panel discussions on changes in the organisational structure of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) and new regulations and standards in the library sector.
