Representatives of the National Library of the Czech Republic visit the National and University Library in Zagreb
Petra Hofbauerová, from the Manuscripts and Early Printed Books Department of the National Library of the Czech Republic, and Tomáš Klimek, representative of the Digital Library Manuscriptorium, visited the National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) as part of a special collaboration programme organised from 17 to 19 October 2017.
Hofbauerová and Klimek were introduced to the Library’s organisation and activities through a guided tour of the Library’s reading room collections, Croatian Institute for Librarianship and the Library’s four special collections – Map Collection, Print Collection, Music Collection and Manuscripts and Old Books Collection.
The programme of the visit particularly focused on the collaboration between the two libraries with regard to the inclusion of digital resources in Manuscriptorium, one of the digital libraries of the National Library of the Czech Republic, and its further development, for which purpose Klimek presented new tools used for the creation of virtual exhibitions of the Manuscriptorium digital collection.
Apart from discussing both viable and optimal ways of making digitised manuscripts from the NSK collections part of the Manuscriptorium digital library, plans for the broadening of the libraries’ cooperation through the inclusion in it of the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics were also considered through talks with Martina Kramarić acting as the Institute’s representative.
