NSK Call for Participation: Croatian books at the 2017 “Best Book Design from all over the World” competition and “Book Art International“ exhibition
The National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) is this year again organising Hrvatska lijepa knjiga, a national best book design competition, through which it will select Croatian books that will enter two major European book events – the international Best Book Design from all over the World competition, which is regularly held as part of the Leipzig Book Fair, and the Book Art International exhibition, traditionally taking place as part of the Frankfurt Book Fair programme. The larger, international competition, which Hrvatska lijepa knjiga is being organised as part of, has been launched by the German Book Art Foundation (Stiftung Buchkunst) with the aim of presenting the greatest creative accomplishments of art editors, designers and print artists.
The Library is therefore inviting all Croatian publishers to participate in this competition by submitting their 2016 editions not later than 7 December 2016 (books should be sent to the Library at Nacionalna i sveučilišna knjižnica u Zagrebu, Ulica Hrvatske bratske zajednice 4, 10 000 Zagreb).
The competition includes the following categories – literature, science, art monographs, photo monographs, children’s books and books for young adults, school books, bibliophile editions, reprints and catalogues.
During December a jury panel will select and publicly announce the best designed Croatian books published in 2016. After the closing of the Frankfurt Book Fair the selected books will be included among the holdings of the German Museum of Books and Writing, which is part of the German National Library.
