Marking of 20th anniversary of Croatian membership in the UN
Numerous foreign and Croatian notables, including the representatives of the Croatian Government and Parliament and the Office of the President of Croatia, gathered at a special reception in the National and University Library in Zagreb on 29 May to mark the 20th anniversary of the membership of the Republic of Croatia in the United Nations.
The participants at this gathering were welcomed by Director General Dunja Seiter-Šverko, after which they were addressed by Vesna Pusić, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, who spoke on behalf of the organizers.
A brief speech was also delivered by Louise Vinton, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, while UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon congratulated Croatia on the 20th anniversary of its membership in this worldwide organization.
During the follow-up entertainment programme the participants listened to the musical performances by two UNICEF goodwill ambassadors in Croatia, Zlatan Stipišić Gibonni and Maja Vučić.
