How to borrow the Library’s items?

Closed Stacks
*These materials may be borrowed and returned at the Lending Service Desk on the Ground Floor and from Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 19.30. Lending services are not available on Saturdays.

*Users may borrow the Library’s materials for a maximum loan period of 30 days, upon presenting their Library Membership Card and student’s record book or student card (students) or Library Membership Card and a valid proof of identity containing a photograph (other citizens).

*The maximum number of items that users may borrow at one time is 5.

Not-Borrowable Closed Stack Items
* Archival copy (items labelled with the designation A).

* CROATICA – the national collection which includes all books published in Croatia, all books by Croatian authors regardless of their place of publication and the language in which they are written, all books in the Croatian language regardless of the author’s nationality, and books on Croats and Croatia published abroad, unless a particular book is available in multiple copies.

*Professional literature (textbooks).

*Books containing valuable graphical supplements, maps, drawings, etc.

*Books in larger formats whose call numbers start with Roman numerals such as I, II, III.

*Reference works (handbooks, encyclopaedias, lexicons, dictionaries, bibliographies, directories and indexes, etc.).

*Serial publications (newspapers, journals, collective volumes, etc.)

*Extracted articles (specially printed journal or collective volume articles bearing the catalogue record designation P.O.).

*Microforms (microfiches and microfilms).

*Electronic publications on floppy disks, CD ROMs and DVDs.

*Comic books and microprints.

*Doctoral dissertations and master’s theses in printed and electronic form.

*The Library may restrict or fully restrain the loaning of items otherwise available for loan.

Open Stacks
*These materials may be borrowed and returned at the desks in the west wing of the Reading Rooms on Floors 3 and 4 from Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 21.00 and between 8.00 and 15.00 on Saturdays.

*Items from the LIS Collection on the Mezzanine Floor may be borrowed between 8.00 and 16.00 at the Lending Service Desk on the Ground Floor.

*Users may borrow the Library’s materials for a maximum loan period of 30 days, upon presenting their Library Membership Card and student’s record book or student card (students) or Library Membership Card and a valid proof of identity containing a photograph (other citizens).

*The maximum number of items that users may borrow at one time is 5.

*The loan period may be renewed only once for a period of additional 30 days by telephone (00385 1 6164 032) at least one day prior to the expiry of the specified loan period.

*Users may exclusively borrow those items which are available in multiple copies in the Open Access Reading Rooms on Floors 3 and 4 and the LIS Collection on the Mezzanine Floor (books whose call numbers bear the designation indicating the number of an individual copy (for example, pr.1, pr.2, pr.3, pr.4, etc.)).

*Various reference works and materials and books (handbooks, encyclopaedias, lexicons) which contain valuable graphical supplements, maps, drawings, etc.

*Serial publications and materials from the Homeland War Book Collection, Doctoral and Master’s Theses Collection and Official Publications Collection are not available for borrowing.
