“Greetings from Zagreb”: NSK presents a mobile application to be part of the national cultural offer
The National and University Library in Zagreb (NSK) invites all to the public presentation of Pozdrav iz Zagreba – Greetings from Zagreb, the Library’s new digital product presenting Croatia’s heritage by bringing together culture and tourism, which will take place on 15 December 2017 in the Library’s Social Sciences and Humanities Reading Room (Floor 3), starting at 12.00.
Pozdrav iz Zagreba – Greetings from Zagreb is not only the Library’s first mobile application, but also the first such application in the national library sector in general, and will be making part of the cultural and tourist offer of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Zagreb, Croatia’s capital.
The intention behind creating this mobile application has been to show the extent to which culture and tourism are intertwined and how Croatia’s heritage institutions may contribute to the strengthening of the national economy by using solutions of the modern technology. The application has been developed through Library’s cooperation with the Blue factory IT company, with the support of the Zagreb Tourist Board, and it will be accompanied by a homonymous web portal.
Pozdrav iz Zagreba – Greetings from Zagreb features the old postcards of Zagreb preserved as part of the NSK Print Collection which have been digitised and presented as part of a virtual tour of Zagreb.
After an introduction by NSK Director General Tatijana Petrić, the mobile application will be presented by NSK Digital Library Adviser Sofija Klarin Zadravec and Dragana Koljenik from the Croatian Institute for Librarianship, operating as part of NSK.
