Get involved! Deadline for the “Let’s make copyright right” petition extended until 1 June 2017
The National and University Library in Zagreb, as the signatory of the open initiative on the copyright reform for education organised by the European association COMMUNIA, invites the representatives of all libraries and library associations, as well as the representatives of all other heritage institutions providing educational activities and services, to support this campaign by signing the Let’s make copyright right. For education online petition.
The deadline for the petition has been extended until 1 June 2017, and the original signatories of COMMUNIA’s initiative include the world’s leading library institutions and associations such as the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), Association of European Research Libraries (LIBER), European digital library Europeana, European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations (EBLIDA) and the Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL) global organisation.
COMMUNIA calls for this reform for the purpose of advancing education and its bringing into line with rapidly progressing digital technologies as well as with the requirements and possibilities resulting from the growing online environment, and more specifically in relation to inadequate solutions put forward in the European Commission proposal for the EU Directive on Copyright in the Digital Single Market which will be voted on by the European Parliament at the end of 2017.
