Deadline for registering Croatian books for exhibitions in Frankfurt and Leipzig extended
The National and University Library in Zagreb is extending the deadline for the registering of well-designed Croatian books for the exhibition BOOK ART INTERNATIONAL, which will be held as part of the International Book Fair in Frankfurt between 10 and 14 October 2012, as well as for BEST DESIGNED BOOKS ALL OVER THE WORLD, which will be held in Leipzig in March next year.
We invite all interested Croatian publishers to submit the covers of books that they would like to register for the competition, presenting in a .pdf or .jpeg format all the details which make them especially well-designed, such as illustrations, along with a completed form which is available on the website of the National and University Library in Zagreb, at osj@nsk.hr not later than Tuesday, 17 July 2012. Only books published between 11 August 2011 and 16 July 2012 may enter the selection.
At these exhibitions more than 35 countries across the world present their yearly production of books divided in seven categories. The categories are: literature, science, monographs on art and various artists, photo monographs, children’s books and books for youth, school books, bibliophile editions, reprints and catalogues.
Publishers whose titles will be chosen by the expert panel of judges in the first phase of the selection will have to send a copy of their book by post so that the final selection could be made.
After the closing of the fairs in Frankfurt and Leipzig, the selected books will be included in the holdings of the German Book and Type Museum, which is part of the German National Library (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek).
