Croatia a member state in the newly elected ISSN Governing Board
A new ISSN Governing Board was elected at the 22nd meeting of the ISSN International Centre General Assembly, held on 26 and 27 April 2018 in Paris, France. Included as the member states in the newly elected Governing Board are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Germany, Mauritius, Sweden, Tunisia, the UK and the US, with the International Cooperation Adviser at the National and University Library in Zagreb Jasenka Zajec voted in as the representative of Croatia.
The ISSN International Centre is an interstate institution that coordinates the activities of the international network for the identification and assignment of the International Standard Serial Number (ISSN), which is used as an identifier for serial publications and other continuing resources regardless of their country of publication, language or script, publication frequency, medium, as well as of whether they are currently issued, their issuing has been discontinued, or they are to be issued in the future. Furthermore, the Centre provides identification tools for member states, maintains and updates the ISSN Register and coordinates the network of national ISSN centres in 90 countries.
The ISSN Portal includes over 2,000,000 records for serials and other continuing resources issued on all types of media, and it annually grows by more than 70 000 records. Although its entire content is available by subscription, part of it may be used free of charge.
Croatia has been a member of this international system since 1992, with the ISSN Centre for Croatia operating as part of the National and University Library in Zagreb.
