2017 IFLA World Library and Information Congress: “Libraries. Solidarity. Society.”
This year’s World Library and Information Congress of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), IFLA WLIC 2017, and the Federation’s 83rd General Conference and Assembly will be held from 19 to 25 August in Wrocław. The third IFLA Congress to take place in Poland, but the first in this charming old city on the River Oder, will be held under the theme Libraries. Solidarity. Society.
This annual congress and general assembly of the leading international library institution will again bring together library and information specialists from all around the world, as well as a large number of experts from fields and disciplines related to library and information sciences. For the purpose of enabling further development of librarianship as a profession directly contributing to the closer linking of communities, better social integration of marginalised groups and the promotion of literacy as one of the foundations of a healthy society, the congress participants will exchange their professional experiences and discuss challenges and open issues that the library profession is currently facing.
