2014 Croatian Night of Museums at the National and University Library in Zagreb
The National and University Library in Zagreb invites you to the already traditional Croatian Night of Museums, which this year will be held for the ninth time in more than a hundred Croatian museums, galleries and cultural institutions on Friday 31 January 2014.
Multiple award winning Croatian photographer and cameraman Marko Vrdoljak will deliver a lecture highlighting the hidden secrets of Brijuni Islands (Skrivene tajne Brijuna). The lecture will start at 9 p.m. in the lobby of the Library. The Night of Museums special programme will also include two exhibitions – one featuring old Croatian calendars and the other, dedicated to the 120th anniversary of the Zagreb based photography club Fotoklub Zagreb 21.
The first exhibition (Stari hrvatski kalendari) presents historically significant calendars preserved at the National and University Library in Zagreb. Among them are the oldest printed calendars in Croatia: Calendarium Zagrabiense (Zagrabiae, 1745-1808), Horvatski ztoletni kalendar od leta 1818. do 1919. by Antun Rožić (Vu Zagrebu, /1818?/), Danica horvatzka, slavonska y dalmatinzka (Zagreb, 1835) or Danica ilirska (Zagreb, 1836-1848), which was published as the supplement first to Novine horvatzke, and later to Ilirske narodne novine and Narodne novine.
The Toward the Time – Fotoklub Zagreb 21 exhibition (U susret vremenu – Fotoklub Zagreb 21) presents selected photographs of 96 authors and promotes the eponymous book, which presents these gifted authors in greater detail.
