13th Higher Education and Scholarships Fair
The Institute for the Development of Education (Institut za razvoj obrazovanja, IRO) is organising the 13th Higher Education and Scholarships Fair, which will be held on Tuesday, 17 October 2017 at the National and University Library in Zagreb, and on Thursday, 19 October 2017 at the University of Rijeka. The Fair will present scholarship opportunities and other programmes of educational support, along with study programmes of higher education institutions in Croatia and abroad. Moreover, the Fair’s visitors will be able to find in one place all information necessary for successfully applying for educational programmes presented as part of its programme.
The partner country at this year’s Fair is Austria, which has been the Institute’s long-standing partner in many successful projects in the field of higher education. According to the 2016 UNESCO statistics, Austria is the third most desirable destination for Croatian students when it comes to educational opportunities, which it will present through as many as 18 exhibition stands.
The 13th Higher Education and Scholarships Fair will also present over 60 exhibitors from as many as 13 countries from Europe, North America and Asia which will present their educational and scholarship opportunities. The exhibitors include various institutions, such as institutions of higher education, ministries, local and regional government institutions, companies, foundations, nongovernmental organisations, embassies and cultural centres.
The Fair’s programme will also include the presentation of student organisations offering possibilities related to international student mobility programmes and organising a wide range of activities focusing on the development of skills and competencies necessary for a successful professional career, along with free workshops with regard to standardised tests such as TOEFL, GMAT, GRE, SAT and ACT, writing essays and recommendation letters, as well as important details concerning university enrolment procedures.
The exhibitors at the Fair will present more than 14,000 scholarship programmes, of which the majority, even 7,600, are offered by the Croatian Ministry of Science and Education. The Ministry also provides 4,600 additional programmes of support a year and is this year offering 3,000 STEM scholarships for study programmes in Croatia for the first time.
The Institute for the Development of Education (IRO) was established in 1999 as a non-profit organisation focusing on the development, advocacy and implementation of higher education policies in Croatia. For the last eighteen years, IRO has been dealing with issues associated with higher education, particularly those related to providing financial support for higher education programmes, enabling equal access to educational opportunities for all, connecting the Croatian higher education system with the labour market, and academic mobility.
The Fair has been organised since 2005 and during the last thirteen years it has grown into one of the most significant higher education-related events in South and South East Europe.
Entry for all visitors is free of charge.
